Orji Uzor Kalu, a former governor and senator from the Abia North senatorial zone, has broken ties with Okey Ezeala, the publicity secretary for the All Progressives Congress in Abia State.

The congressman clarified this on Sunday in a statement released by his media office, which George Maduka made available to media, in response to some contentious comments made by the Abia APC publicity secretary that have received backlash from the general public.

The party scribe is on his own, according to Kalu, who also cautioned him to try to keep his personal beliefs apart from the party line.

He instructed Maduka to stop using his name to further his divisive viewpoints.

"Okey Ezeala does not work in the Senate office of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu," the statement claims. He cannot voice views that differ from the distinguished senator's and does not speak for the senator.

"A more powerful and cohesive APC is what the former governor desires." He has been making every effort to fortify the party in anticipation of a more successful campaign in the state.

"He opposes the name-calling and attacks on party leaders. He does not believe in Ezeala's divisive words.

"As a leader in the APC, Senator Kalu firmly believes that the party should win every elective office, including the presidency and councilorships."

Before making any public remarks, Kalu also counseled Ezeala to consult with and get the view of the party executives, who are led by Dr. Kingsley Ononugbo, the chairman of the party.

He pointed out that remarks that do not advance harmony and peace among party members do not represent his beliefs and character and ought to be disregarded.
